What are some spring senior events in Kamloops?
Spring in Kamloops is a beautiful time of year. For seniors, it offers the chance to get outside, enjoy the fresh air, and stay active. After spending too much time indoors during the winter, spring brightens up our days and makes us feel younger and more alive.
There are numerous events occurring around the city this spring and here are a few choices that would work well for anyone living in a senior living facility.
Kamloops Wine Festival
From May 5 – 12, Kamloops is hosting their 20th Annual wine festival. One part of this event that would be really popular with seniors is the Ladies Afternoon Drawing Club at the Kamloops Art Gallery. From 3 – 5 in the afternoon, participants can paint with wine and learn how to make art. If it's too busy, there are plenty of other wine tasting activities around the city.
Hydra Performing Arts Festival
This all-new festival for theatre, dance, and music is presented by the Chimera Theatre. There are 12 shows to check out, running from May 10 – 13, and May 17 – 19. There are shows for all age groups and tastes, from comedies, dramas, and magic. This would also be an amazing way for seniors to reconnect with their younger relatives – why not take your granddaughter to a play that might shock and surprise both of you?
Centre for Seniors Information
CSI Kamloops is an integral place for seniors to go, spend time with people of similar ages and backgrounds, and enjoy events and activities together. Every Sunday night they host a dance from 7:30 – 11:00pm. Bingo nights are Tuesdays at 6pm and they host group lunches twice a week. Seniors looking for quieter events may want to start here.
At The Hamlets at Westsyde, we try to offer all the amenities a senior would want to enjoy, but we encourage our residents to go outside into the community and have fun at events that appeal to them. From wine to theatre to dancing, we want the residents of our little seniors village to have fun outside our doors too.
