What is the Hamlet at Westsyde?

The Hamlets at Westsyde is an Optima Living community offering Independent Living, Assisted Living, and Long-Term Care, including both Interior Health funded and private pay options. Our tight-knit and friendly community allows seniors to age in place, supported by the right level of care as needs change.

Residents are welcomed into a warm, home-style community where care is personalized, relationships are valued, and daily life is shaped around individual routines and preferences. We believe in empowering you or your loved one to live a full, meaningful, and rewarding life while receiving the right level of care for evolving needs.

The Hamlets at Westsyde is CARF accredited and received a 95% rating from the Interior Health Authority Quality Review, reflecting our commitment to quality, safety, and compassionate care.

What is the difference between Independent Living, Assisted Living, and Long-Term Care?

Independent Living is ideal for seniors who value independence while enjoying the ease of daily services such as three meals per day, weekly housekeeping, daily well-being checks, and a full calendar of activities.

Assisted Living provides additional personalized support, including help with medication, bathing, or daily routines, delivered by our on-site team 24 hours a day.

Long-Term Care offers 24-hour nursing and personal care for individuals with more complex medical or cognitive needs.


What types of accommodations are available?

Independent and Assisted Living are offered in apartment-style studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom suites. Each suite includes a kitchenette, with a small refrigerator & microwave, sink, countertop space and cabinets. As well, each suite includes a safety-equipped bathroom with emergency call bells.

Long-Term Care accommodations are also available.


What is the difference between Assisted Living and Long-Term Care in BC?

Assisted Living supports seniors who remain largely independent but benefit from some personal assistance, such as help with meals, bathing or medication.

Long-Term Care provides full-time nursing and personal care for those who require a higher or complex level of medical or cognitive support.


How much is private pay for long-term care in Kamloops, BC?

Private pay long-term care in Kamloops typically ranges from $8,000 to $10,000 per month, depending on care needs and community offerings.


How much is private pay for long-term care at the Hamlets at Westsyde?

Private pay long-term care at The Hamlets at Westsyde is approximately $8,900 per month. Please call to confirm current pricing and availability.


What is the difference between Interior Health funded and private pay long-term care?

Private pay long-term care is paid entirely by the resident.

Interior Health funded long-term care includes a subsidy based in income, with eligibility deteremined by Interior Health.


How do I know if I qualify for Interior Health funded long-term care?

Is parking available?

Secure garage parking is available for residents for a monthly fee.


Are pets allowed?

Pets are welcome in Independent and Assisted Living, because we know how important they are to feeling at home. Pet visitors are also welcome.

In Long-Term Care, residents may enjoy pet visits.


What is the size of the suites?

Studio suites are approximately 330 sq. ft.

One-bedroom suites range from 435 to 550 sq. ft.

Two-bedroom suites are approximately 700 sq. ft.

Long-Term Care bedrooms are approximately 150 sq. ft. and include a private restroom.


Do any suites have two bathrooms?

Yes. All two-bedroom suites include two bathrooms.


What is included in the monthly rate?

Monthly rates include rent, three meals per day, utilities, and a basic cable package.

Internet, telephone, garage parking, and Assisted Living supports are additional.


Do any suites have balconies and patios?

Balconies are available on select second, third, and fourth floor suites. Many main-level suites include private patios.


Is there outdoor garden spaces?

Yes. The Hamlets at Westsyde features three landscaped courtyards and space for raised garden beds.
