Great summer senior events in Kamloops
Kamloops is a beautiful city in the summer time. When the sun is shining off the rivers and everything is green and alive, people young and old want to get outside and enjoy everything the city has to offer. Here are a few events in Kamloops this summer that will get seniors outside and enjoying themselves.
Music in the Park
Riverside Park hosts free concerts every night of the week until August 31st. This park is perfect for anyone close to downtown, so seniors can make a day of it. The park itself offers amazing walks along the river and then the concerts are free, so it’s perfect for those on a budget. No matter whether your musical tastes lean towards rock, classic, funk, blues, country, or an amazing tribute band, this is the place for you.
Kamloops Heritage Railway
For anyone who’s ever wanted to ride on a train pulled by a real steam locomotive, this is the outing for you. This 8 km round trip takes you from the historic CNR station near Pioneer Park on a journey through Kamloops’ historic railroad past. For seniors, the price is only $26 and these trips occur every Thursday, Friday and Saturday night in August.
Gardengate Produce Sales
Every day of the week during the summer, Gardengate is holding produce sales from 11:30am – 1:00pm. All the fruits and vegetables are freshly picked, grown on-site, and certified organic. It’s an amazing way to stock up the kitchenette in your suite and ensure you’re eating the finest food. Even better, all the proceeds go to support Gardengate, which is helping people with mental health disabilities. Good food and a good cause as well.
Even though The Hamlets at Westsyde is the premier seniors village in Kamloops, we always want to see our residents outside and enjoying everything the community has to offer. Our recreation plans are amazing, but seniors need to experience everything they can. So get outside and have fun.
