Convalescent care: What to expect

Convalescent care: What to expect

October 24th, 2017

What is convalescent care?

Convalescent care is the care of people post-surgery, outside of a hospital, when the patient requires additional attention and a safer, cleaner environment, but doesn’t require an extensive hospital stay.

Many assisted care facilities, such as The Hamlets at Westsyde, offer convalescent care. Our service allows seniors to recover post-surgery or heal from any other problem or illness under the watchful eye of our trained staff. Because we have a top-notch facility, with nurses and medical equipment, we can help you better than anywhere.

What to expect?

We welcome all people who need our care after surgery, so the first thing to expect is an eager staff who want to do everything they can to make your recovery as easy as possible. Since we are well-trained and experienced in working with seniors, we can make your stay with us more comfortable and help you heal. One big advantage of recovering with us is the feeling of home, but in a medical facility. Since you’ll be staying in a suite, with your own bed, bathroom, and possibly a kitchenette, there will be the feeling of being in a home-like environment. And we have medical staff in place if you need it. You’ll also be surrounded by numerous people your own age, many of whom have already gone through the same surgery you’ve had.

We have daily care, both medically and not. We offer daily housekeeping and meal service from our excellent kitchen. We can assist you with your mobility and with your everyday needs, such as moving around, using the bathroom, and getting dressed.

If you’re worried about an upcoming surgery, or you’re unsure about the best recovery plan, come and talk to us at The Hamlets at Westsyde in Kamloops, and we can guide you through the best plan to get you back on your feet.
