Activities for Seniors With Limited Mobility in Kamloops

Activities for Seniors With Limited Mobility in Kamloops

April 28th, 2021

If you are a senior with limited mobility in the Kamloops area—or you know someone who is—there are lots of activities available to you. The city of Kamloops has done some good things to make many activities accessible for those with limited mobility. Here are some ideas to try:

Isobel Lake Trail

Isobel Lake Trail is about a 30-minute drive from Kamloops. It’s a hard, flat trail (loop), that is a fully wheelchair accessible. The whole area was recently upgraded to improve its accessibility. The lake, there, is also stocked with trout if anyone wants to go fishing.

Riverside Park

Riverside Park is along the south side of the Thompson River close to downtown. It’s a nicely paved trail that is designed to be very wheelchair friendly. Be sure to stop at the nearby ice cream parlour after a walk along the river.

Kamloops Museum and Archives

For an indoor activity, try the Kamloops Museum and Archives, which is dedicated to preserving the Kamloops culture and history. It is currently open during regular hours, although a few individual exhibits are closed. The KMA is considered very accessible for those with limited mobility.

Kamloops is a beautiful place to live with activities all year round. The city is readily wheelchair accessible with lots of both indoor and outdoor activities available for seniors—or anyone else—with limited mobility. The list of activities above is not exhaustive. There are lots of others including the Kamloops Art Gallery, the largest in the British Columbia interior. Kamloops has a population is about 90,000, and the city is very wheelchair friendly.
