TikTok Video of St. Albert Seniors Cheering on the Oilers Becomes a Media Sensation
Seniors cheering the Oilers on TikTok goes viral, reaching thousands of views after being featured. The excitement became breaking news as the TikTok story continues to be featured in local media outlets, including St. Albert Gazette, CityNews Edmonton, the Daily Hive, CBC News, CTV News Edmonton, and CTV News.
Residents at Everitt Gardens—our Independent Living, Assisted Living, and Memory Care community the City of St. Albert—took to TikTok to show their Edmonton Oilers team spirit! Sporting jerseys, team colours, and “cheer gear,” residents were all smiles as they cheered on the home team.
Optima Living encourages a sense of community and coming together to support events in the community. Watching the Oilers games bring a great sense of unity and spirit among the Everitt Gardens residents.
Recreation Therapist, Lori Kary states, "With our Edmonton Oilers TikToks going viral, the last few days have been a whirlwind for us here at Everitt Gardens! We have had six news outlets interview us and even a couple virtual interviews, one from CTV Toronto! Our ‘Pump up the Jam’ video posted on Friday already has 217,000 views!
I am so proud of our residents and my Recreation Aide Loida, who collaborates with me on ideas and edits the videos. Cheering on our favourite team brings a sense of community to Everitt Gardens and the buzz in our building is awesome! We dance, we laugh and most of all we have FUN!"
