Nutritional Benefits of a Senior Community

Nutritional Benefits of a Senior Community

August 30th, 2021

There are some significant nutritional benefits of living in a senior community such as the one that we have in Kamloops, British Columbia. Here are some of the benefits which you may not have considered.

Meal Preparation

Most senior communities like ours offer regular meals in a common area. This makes mealtimes a social activity as well as a nutritional one. Seniors are more likely to eat because they do not have to do any cooking!

Meal Planning

Since the main meals are prepared for the seniors, there is staff that are planning in advance to make sure meals are nutritious and well balanced. There is much more thought that goes into planning the nutritional content of meals when professionals are in charge of it.

Drinking Enough

During heat waves, staff is going to be preoccupied with making sure that residents are drinking enough water for hydration. Seniors are particularly vulnerable to heat injury, so a community that is staffed 24 hours per day is much safer than seniors living on their own.

Health Benefits

Not only are there nutritional benefits of a senior community, but there are also social and general health benefits. Seniors can make friends with their peers, eat with them, and hang out with them, all in the same community. Any snacks available for residents will be nutritious and tasty, just like regular meals. As far as nutrition goes, living in a senior community is a win all the way around.
