Great Ways to Stay in Touch With Loved Ones in Long-Term Care

August 14th, 2020

Staying in touch is different than it used to be. It’s not necessarily harder, just different. We can’t just stop by to see someone because of social distancing restrictions during COVID-19, especially with anyone in long-term care.

In this article, we’re going to talk to you about different ways to stay in touch with loved ones. There are many ways to choose from.

Phone

Aside from the form on our website, you can always call using a cell phone or land line.

Video Conferencing

Video conferencing is easy, too. There are many free apps like FaceTime which comes pre-installed on all iPhones. Video conferencing allows you to see the person and talk to him or her at the same time, and that person can also see you.

Letter

You can always write a letter. Writing letters is a lost art, but everyone loves getting a handwritten letter. Remember, Canada Post and couriers are fully operational despite COVID-19.

Outside Visits

Many residential-care communities in Alberta and British Columbia are starting to allow outside visits. If that’s something you would like to arrange, then contact us and we’ll see if it’s possible.

We want our residents to be in close touch with their family and friends as much as possible. We believe that staying connected is key to weathering the pandemic successfully.
