Fun year-round activities for seniors in Kamloops
Living in Kamloops is a joy for everyone. It’s a beautiful city with tons of things to do for people of every age. For seniors looking for ways to stay active and independent, it offers a number of amazing things to do and see.
One key part of independent senior living is finding ways to stay as active in the winter as in the summer. Looking at the snow on the mountains is beautiful, but many seniors avoid the cold, icy temperatures because of the greater risk of injury and illness. Because of this, we like to come up with as many year-round activities as we can – things that seniors can do regardless of the weather.
The Centre for Seniors Information is an amazing place that offers numerous year-round seniors activities. Not only do they schedule programs and services designed to help seniors as they transition into this latest chapter of their lives, they also schedule dances, bingo, bridge, and fitness classes every month of the year. It’s a great way to get out and meet people with similar interests and hobbies.
Speaking of bingo, there are numerous places in Kamloops you can go and play at. No matter if it’s at a local casino any night of the week or Lucky’s Restaurant’s Rock and Roll Bingo every Wednesday, seniors can get out and maybe win some money. Just be careful to not go over budget and buy too many bingo cards.
Visit the Kamloops Art Gallery. There’s no better way to spend some free time than to experience some culture and enjoy the creative side of life. The Kamloops Art Gallery has exhibitions running throughout the year and memberships only cost $20 for a senior and $35 for a senior couple. You could also volunteer and help out when able.
At The Hamlets at Westsyde, we encourage all aspects of senior living and want our residents to enjoy Kamloops year-round. We schedule numerous activities in our building but love to see seniors get outside as well.
