3 Great Kamloops Outings for Seniors
The weather is improving, and soon summer will be here. Staying active is very important for seniors as exercise is good for both the mind and the body and general good health. In this blog article, we will take a look at some fun activities for seniors in and around Kamloops.
Golf
Go play golf. There are eight golf courses in or near Kamloops, and they cover all types of terrain from desert to mountain. Whether you walk the course or ride in a cart, golf still spells fresh air and sunshine. If you don’t feel up to playing 18 holes, you can always just play nine. If you’re looking for a shorter course that will play faster, look for “executive” courses. Golf is good for people of every age, and if you don’t know how to play, you can always learn.
Fishing
Try fishing. You do not need a boat to fish in the many lakes around Kamloops, like Tunkwa and Jacko Lakes. Many of the lakes in the area are stocked with fish every year. There is even a dedicated fishing store in town, Casting Loops Fly & Tackle. Fishing is not hard exercise, and it’s a great way to have some quiet time and enjoy the scenery even if you don’t catch anything. If you’re not familiar with all the fishing spots, you can always get a fishing guide to show you around. Be sure to get a fishing license before going fishing.
Museum
If the arts is more to your liking, visit the Kamloops Museum and Archives (KMA). This is a terrific museum that has been around since 1937. The museum can be found at 207 Seymour Street and is open Tuesday through Saturday.
There are many activities available in Kamloops all year round.
